Weekly Photo Challenge: On The Way (Home)

A late entry for the Weekly Photo Challenge: On The Way.

These pictures from my  trip back from Cambodia in 2013 via Bangkok, Doha and arrival back in London.

Zanzibar Woes

Yet again in Tanzania we encountered the same issue as in the Serengeti – a lack of tourists. We are staying in a lovely hotel which is half empty. We went on a Reef Tour this afternoon (more later) Snd the guys taking us tell that this is supposed to be the busy time of the year.

The reason yet again is Ebola! Not it’s presence.

It is the FEAR OF EBOLA.

Westerners are being frightened off by irrational fears! Ebola is closer to London than Zanzibar and is nowhere near East Africa. Geographical ignorance is ruining the industry here. Europeans and Americans are staying away even though the risk is greater in their own countries than here. The poor people are suffering for no reason. So get out your Atlases and research properly before turning your back on a continent which could swallow USA, Europe, India and China with room to spare.

Taking Flight

T minus 156

So it now confirmed we leave on the evening of the 22nd August. Another slight change.

This is the day after Matt’s GCSE results!

It is the day before a wedding to which all of my family are invited (my sister in laws sister!) which hopefully this makes it easier for people to see us off!

It’s a long one taking approx 24 hours though I’m unsure if time differences are calculated in.

I count countries if I get out of the plane – even if I don’t leave the airport (as I did with Qatar last summer), so hopefully I can add another country to the list 🙂 Once we’re there I’ll let on where.

It’s all taking shape and seems more real now.
