Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument – 2
Two very different monuments from Cambodia – one ancient and glorious the other modern and horrific. Both a testament to the Cambodian past which MUST NOT be forgotten.
One of the many monuments on the Angkor Wat site built at the height of the Khmer Empire in the 12th Century.
The Mausoleum at Cheoung Ek – Killing Fields where the mass graves of almost 9000 innocent Cambodians have been found. These part of 3/4 million people murdered between 1975 and 1979 by the Khmer Rouge in genocide.
